Hmmm

I wouldn't normally blog this as it looks rubbish on the scan but I am being nagged for being a bad blogger. Sigh.

It's a stamping up image that I have water coloured but on the scan it looks hardly coloured at all. Trust me if you will it's better in real life

Tomorrow I will show you a domino that has oodles of colour but once again I am suffering from bumstuckonthesofa-itis & can't possibly move lol

OK some one tell me why bloggers turned it upside down!!! it's up the right way on my computer. Maybe blogger thinks it looks better that way lol

Arty Girlz - Challenge 73

I feel the need to bead just lately I just don't know what to make. I have oodles & oodles of beads but never the right one & now I find I am short on ideas too.

Arty girlz challenge is to use wire so I have made a book mark/ book thong. I've made my own wire wraps. Not exactly professional but it got me beading I loved making it. I think that is the whole idea.

DD (7) also helped & informs me she will be making one on her own soon. Best I lock my beads up eh? lol

Arty Girlz Challenge - 69

This week is a toughie over at Arty Girlz. The theme this week is transparent, eek. But I am on a mission to get my Christmas cards sorted this end of the year so I have made some transparent ones. Yes some. Can't believe it but I have made 3!

Not sure you can tell from these pics but the whole card is made of acetate with a small pic peeping out of an aperture.

Triomino Snowflakes

'Tis the season to be jolly fa la la la la la la la laaaaaa

I have made a couple of tree decorations.
I stuck some peel offs onto triominos then inked them with Tim Holtz Alcohol inks. I don't have a lot of pennies left for the fancy blender and applicator so I improvised. I used isopropyl alcohol instead of the blending solution. It costs about £10 a litre (35floz) instead of £5 for 2 floz for the Tim Holtz one!!!! My applicator was a mushroom brush covered in clingfilm and felt.
It all did the job.
Once dry I took the peel offs, off & covered in stickles then covered in the diamond glaze, that isn't diamond glaze as it's made by Anitas & I can never remember the name of it.

They don't show up to well on the picture but I tried & tried to take a photo & they are just to glossy. These are scanned & the best I could do. You will just have to use a bit of imagination!

A Napkin Card

I know this isn't the best card in the world but I thought I would show it to you to share the technique.

Instead of sticking the napkin down with glue I used cling film :-0

I place the card down them some clingfilm then the napkin & ironed it. It took a couple of goes but it worked & gives a much smoother and quicker finish than glue.

Next time I use the technique I'll make a decent card with it though lol.

Handy hint - if you do try this don't forget to seperate the napkin layers!!!!

Look at me sew!

It was book week
School had 'dress up day'
DD decided she wanted to go as Alice in wonderland
Alice costumes were either to expensive or I couldn't get them in time
My mum (who sews) was on holiday
I don't sew.

Argh.

I had no option than to make her one.
I bought a blue top
I made a blue skirt. (I 'll just say I'm glad it stayed together & covered her bum all day lol)
I made an apron too & that I will share with you. I am actually quite pleased. It started life as an overshirt ... actually that can't be true can it? It must of had a life before that. But anyway .... I made the patteren up as I went along. I'm sure the sewers amongst you will be shaking the heads in dismay but I'm happy, DD was happy & it covered the skirt

Whos a beading leafer?

I'm still on this tiara malarky :-)

DD (age 6) has been getting in on the act. Here is a pic of some leaves we made can you guess which ones she made?

I have all the flowers & leaves made now & just 2 more sets of sticky up bits to do then it is assembly time.

I found a way of making the flowers a little easier. A paintbrush. I made the bottom and the petals around the brush then closed the bottom up. So simple yet so effective. Yay

Tiara progress

I have been going on (as I do, lol) about making a tiara for ages. Not sure why, I think it's just an excuse to get out beads and wire. My lovely DH got me a tiara making kit for my birthday .... only he forgot to give it to me until 3 weeks later!!! Anyway, armed with beads, wire and a set of instructions I am on my way. Thought I would share my progress with you

Here is what I have done so far,

The band is prepared.
I've made some pretty sparkly bits can't remember what they were called really but you can see what I mean by the pic.
and I've made 2 flowers. I'm actually quite pleased with these. I'm pleasedest (it is a word, I'm sure it is lol) with the first one though. For some reason the wire doesn't seem to be as tight on the second. Maybe because I managed to break the wire on that one & had to start again made me nervous.

And here is a closer photo of the flower. The flash has caught the bead in the middle & made it disappear in the photo but it is there really and very, very sparkly

UTEE Melting Pot

I'm so excited look what I got. I'm seriously skint now but woohoo what fun I'm going to have.
I shall have to save up for some other bits but at least I can make a start...... well actually I already have. I'll tell you about that in a min.

oops

I've just looked back over my last few posts and most of them are dominos lol. I'm going to try and do something different tomorrow.

Covering Dominos

I have made a discovery.

I got some decoArt duraclear satin varnish to cover dominos with. First attempt using an inkjet printer the ink ran. Second attempt was printed on a lazer printer and for some reason as soon as I touched the image it flaked away. I have no idea why that would happen. As it was the worn away look was ok for the image but It's not going to be ideal for other stuff.

Anyway I vanished this & it was fine, no runs & more importantly no bubbles. Not 1. The end result is very different to the embossing liquid Flatter and not so glossy, but I still like it.

This is the second attempt domino. Just got to add a keyring to it.

Dominos Dominos

I lost my mojo. I couldn't find it anywhere but Crissi found it for me yay. It was her domino swap that made me get out my dominos & get crafting again.
Once I started I couldn't stop making them. Here are some of the non swap ones

Can't remember if I have used this image before. If I have it wasn't a keyring last time.
I don't think it shows on the pic but there is a hole for a keyring on this one too. I even drilled it myself. I'm so proud lol.

Can you see the glitter on this one? The butterfly has left a glittery trail & just look at that lovely drilled hole!!!

Tilda has been coloured in with my daughters felt tip pens.

Now I have put a pic there it looks rubbish but it is to late to change it now. Maybe tomorrow

I've got an award

Fancy that!

You plod along with no awards and then 2 come along at once. 'This is a Arte Y Pico' award from Sallys 'My Crafty Stuff' blog for "for the best altered dominoes anywhere"
WOW, Thank you Sally.

Oh there are rules (yikes)

The Arte Y Pico Award is given to those who share their art and creativity and for making their contribution to the blogging world. There are 5 rules attached to this and they are -

1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogging community, no matter what language.

2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.

3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her/him the award itself.

4. Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of "Arte Y Pico" blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.

5. To show these rules.

3 and 5 are done. 2 will be done when 1 is. Now number 1 is a bit of a problem right now as I have have managed to get out of touch with blogland just lately I haven't seen what's going on. I am really trying to keep up to date now so will pop 5 people here soon. Hope that's ok.
Number 4 is a bigger broblem. I have been back half a dozen blogs to find a link to arte y pico & when I found a link it was broken :-o so after a google search I have come up with this. if it's wrong ... oops

I've been 'featured'

Woohoo look at me I've been featured on the fantastic inspirational blog. Just for my little ole beachhut dominos. I'm touched that my work is on there. Check this blog out it is full of ..... well ..... inspiration!
