Arty Girls Challenge #11 Squares

I can't believe the Arty Girlz are up to challenge 11 already. I'm afraid Christmas has got in the way of my blogging. I will go back to regular posting when it is all over. (Christmas that is, not blogging) I have however managed to complete the arty girlz challenge 11 "squares" mainly because it is DD's birthday tomorrow. Can you guess how old she will be? lol

Arty Girlz Challenge #9

I know I am late but here is my entry to the Arty Girlz challenge.

This week's challenge is 'Hearts' so as usual feel free to interpret our theme as you like and it's entirely up to you whether you make a card, an atc...bake a cake etc. etc.

Here is my ATC. I've had this stamp for ages. I feel quite proud I've finally used lol.

Magickdivas "words" challenge

Magick diva said

Today's challenge is to add a WORD to your artwork - any form of artwork can be submitted - and there are endless possibilities for a WORD to be included

I went to my stash found something with words on & created a card round it. Quite pleased with the results really especially as it took about 2 mins to make lol. What do you think?

Get Crafty Comp Part 2 (broken rules fixed)

I didn't read Emma of Get Crafty's comp rules properly so my 'sassy' card broke the rules (shock horror) there was no embossing!! I have now added my daughters name in silver ink, on silver mirror card, embossed with clear embossing powders. I have never made her a Christmas card & I just know she is going to be happy with this one. Just need to work out how to get all those feathers in the envelope now :-D
Think I have done it in the nick of time ...comp ends today :-/

Arty Girlz & Magickdiva & Daring Card Makers

I have managed to get 3 challenges in to 1 card.

Arty Girlz Challenge #8 Bling
Magicdiva Something with a number on it
Daring Card Makers hand cut something

This looks quite dull in the pic but the card is pearlised so is the paper. It is edged with silver ink and finished off with sparkly gems.

Inching Artists Challenge #7 Housies

The challenge on Inching Artists was to make a housie inchie.

I had an idea.

I would get my daughter to draw a house & I would make it in to an inchie.

She drew a lovely little house & I set too colouring it and mounting it. Turned around and saw she had made herself one. I think it is fantastic so I mounted it for her.

Mine is on the right with the sun, hers is on the left with the clouds. Do you think at 5 she is the youngest inchie artist?

Arty Girls Challenge #7 ~ Rainbow Colours

I know I am going to be in trouble for this one. Lol. This is for the Arty Girls Challenge

I think Crissi would call it thinking out of the box
I think Julie would call it cheating
I call it last minute rush
To be honest I am not even going to think about what Cynthia would call it, because this is what she said

"I would like you to create a work of art using just THREE colours from the Rainbow spectrum. In case you have forgotten they are (Richard Of York Gave Battle in Vain, or Run Off You Girls, Boys In View)RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO AND VIOLET.No mixing of colours please just use them as they are."

Well as I am in Christmas mode & can't get out I went for red and green (obviously) but I couldn't get the third colour in so i went for gold. From the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. lol lol

Oh well at least I tried eh?

Sassy Christmas

Emma form Get Crafty put up a challenge to make a sassy Christmas card. I looked sassy up in the dictionary & this is what it said.

sas·sy 1 (sās'ē) adj. sas·si·er, sas·si·est
1) Rude and disrespectful; impudent.
2) Lively and spirited; jaunty.
3) Stylish; chic: a sassy little hat.

I think my card fulfills number 2.

Personally I think it is terrible. (In my opinion Christmas should be red & green.) DD thinks it is "beautiful" but then she is pink and fluffy.

Don't know if you can tell but the background is hand stamped & coloured (pink) baubles.

Tilda all made up.

I have so many stamped images of Tilda all coloured in several different ways. Most are rubbish, some are ok & it is the ok ones that I have started to make some of them in to christmas cards. Here are my first 3

Tuesday, 23 October 2007

Look who turned up on my doorstep

WOOHOO Tilda has arrived.
She took so long I think she walked all the way from Sweden!! At least she arrived in time for Christmas, isn't she great? I am planning on making one or 2 cards with these so I'll let you see when I have done ...

Beaded Holly Card

Carrying on the simple theme I have made a holly one too. I love making these beaded things, they are fidley but fun to do.

That Rudolph Inchie

Remember the Rudolph inchie I made for Wednesday stampers? I made it into a card. Just a really simple card. Too simple do you think?

Just noticed Rudolph looks like he has been at the sherry lol.

Dragonfly Dominos

I took part in a domino swap over on Auntys. There was a choice of themes, Christmas, wings or animals or all 3. We had to use 3 domino's.

I decided on the wings theme. The wings are cherry pie stamps coloured with imitation twinkling h2o's. The small domino has a string of beads attached with Anita's glossy gloop. (one day I will remember it's real name!) The big beads are sooo pretty in real life really sparkly pink and yellow like fruit salad sweets .... not that they sparkled but you know what I mean.

These were sent to Crissi. Thanks for taking the pic Crissi *thumbs up*

Daring Card Makers - Christmas Trees

"O Christmas Tree. O Christmas Tree"
Want to guess what needs to be featured on your cards this week? Yes, we want to see lots and lots of Christmas Trees

That's what it said over at Daring Card Makers ...
... ooh look a card with a christmas tree on. Fancy that!

Hope you like.

Just editing to add a close up ...

Wednesday Stamper Challenge - Inchies

The challenge at Wednesday stamper was quite simple ... make and inchie ... so I did, lol.

The stamp stamp is stamped (are you following? lol) onto something called 'almost leather' you heat it up with your heat gun then stamp into it while it is still hot.

So now I have a handy leather look reindeer inchy. :-/

Arty Girlz Challenge - 3 Glueless

Love the title of this one "glueless" pmsl

Here's the brief from The Arty Girlz ...

"This weeks challenge is 'glueless' in other words we'd like you to use another medium other than your usual pva's, glue sticks and double sided tape on your project."

Well here is my creation with not a single bit of stickyness. The beads are sewn, the matting has slits cut for photo corners.

I actually started this ATC for tmta challenge when they said to make something that makes you smile. But I haven't been in blog land for so long I have well and truly missed the deadline. I wasn't going to finish it but when this challenge came along I thought is fitted the bill.

Just realised the scan has chopped the bottom off. You will just have to imagine there is a bit of navy blue along the bottom, lol.

Hope you like it, feel free to leave a comment :-)

Arty Girlz Challenge - 2 Flowers

The Arty Girlz said:-
This week's challenge is flowers.
So you could use flower patterened papers, flower die cuts, use flower embellies etc. it's entirely up to you.

Wow that's my sort of challenge lol. Seeing as I was going to make a thank you ATC (I think ATC's lend themselves to thank you notes so well) anyway, I have made one with flowers on.

More Beach Hut Dominos

I have been dominoing again. I've made some more beach huts, I just can't leave the diddy little huts alone lol.

These ones are for sale. If you are interested in buying use the contact me button on the right. These have a different background to the ones I have made before but I think the gloss sits better on these.

CIOD black and white challenge

The challenge on Creative Ideas On Sunday blog is .....

black and white
Show us your work with the fantastic colours of black and
white

YIKES!!

I don't have anything in black and white

I know, I'll draw in black and white

DOUBLE YIKES!

Just the 'Happy Birthday' is printed on the computer.

Alpha Challenge 'M'

ITS NOT A CHRISTMAS CARD :-o

LETTER M
compulsory
(your artwork MUST have something starting with M)
Options
(only here to take the challenge a bit further)
Option 1 : NO stamping.... nope, nothing...just paper and embellishments.... not that easy you'll see...
Option 2 : pink and brown colour combination

that's the alpha challenge

Well the 'M' is the mice & there is no stamping so I have done the challenge with option 1. If I had any sense I would of done brown instead of the blue to fulfill option 2 but there, I don't do sense too often.

Have you noticed I am anticipating being late for someones birthday lol. A handy card to have ready made me thinks!

Oh, and the mice are quickutz reindeers without the antlers :-)

UK Crafty Blogs

330!!!!

330????

I am ranked in the UK Crafty blogs at a measly 330!

Thought I would join to see how many people came to my blog, but I think I was better off in my ignorant bliss

I need chocolate :-(

Halloween Domino Set

Another Halloween-y domino, this time a set. The same stamp but the spider is separate to the web.

Halloween Dominos

Woooooh Halloween. Not wanting to let on opportunity for dominoing to pass I have made a Halloween domino.

It is chalked in purple then stamped. As you can see the stamp is bigger than the domino so had to go around the edge. I quite like the effect though

Caardvarks Challenge

"Make a card using chipboard on your card front" That's what they said over on caardvarks. This is what I did ...

I painted and chalked a chipboard ribbon slide. The tree in the middle is one of those magic pictures that change was you move them. It looks a bit liney in the scan but it just looks like a twinkling tree IRL.

Inching Artists

This is another challenge I have got sort of wrong. The challenge is from inching artists I thought I had to make 3 inchies with the theme of "little wings" but no, it was theme number 3 lol. I really must read properly.
Still, here is my entry .....

It is a dragonfly puzzle inchie!!! (that is my excuse for not getting it all on one, lol) hope you can tell from the photo it is 3 inchies one for each set of wings and one for the body.

Alpha Challenge - The Letter 'L'

Over on the alpha challenge blog the challenge was to make a card containing something with the letter 'L'
here is my card with LIGHTS. Yes it is another christmas card lol

I did notice though when I went to get the link the challenge has changed to m. Sorry I am a bit late then I'll start on 'm' tomorrow

Thursday, 20 September 2007

The Challenge on magickdiva blog is

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE IS TO PRODUCE A HALLOWEEN INCHY. LET'S SEE HOW MUCH SPOOKINESS (!)

I have been wanting to have a go at inchies without the commitment of having to swap so here is my chance

I don't know if you can tell from the photo but the spider is stamped on acetate so is hovering above the web. Spider & web both cherry pie stamps

Daring Card Makers - A Golden Moment

It's challenge time at Daring Card Makers

This time we are giving you just One Word as the inspiration for your card making and that word is GOLDEN You can use the word in any way you like - the word itself doesn't even have to be on the card, for instance you could make a card in golden shades, or maybe inspired by the seasons of Spring or Autumn which both feature lots of golden colours. Or maybe you could make a card to celebrate a Golden Anniversary, and of course Gold is a great colour for Christmas cards.....It's up to you - just go for Gold

That's the challenge & here's my card. I think I should of used a smaller card as it is a bit plain. At least you get to see lots of gold, mind you it's so shiney maybe it could double as a handy mirror, lol.

Can you spot a theme on my challenge cards yet?

Arty girlz Challenge #1 - Stamping

There's me searching for a challenge blog and there is a brand new one right under my nose! The Arty Girlz Challenge blog is looking good & here is my take on their first challenge.

"You can make whatever you like....a card, a scrapbook layout an atc...the choice is yours but your creations must contain stamping"

I am not a stamper but I'll give it a go .....

The stamp is from Tanda (coloured with water colours), the ribbon is from Molly Daydream, the paint is from my purple paper draw lol.

Daring Card Makers 'Word' Challenge

Someone tell me why when I don't have a die cutter do I decide to take up a challenge that needs a cut out word. I know I could of used a sticker or something but you know what it is like, once you have an idea in your head its hard to move on.

Heres the challenge:-

This week I dare you to use a Word as the main focal point to your card. It can be a name, a greeting or just a word that inspires you. You can use other text but only one word as a main embellishment. So dig out your dictionaries, die cutters, alphabet stamps, rubons or download a funky font and show us what you can do! The design team have come up with some fabulous creations to inpsire you.

Here is my take on it -

As you know, the 'Santa' is cut by hand. The stitching & writing is my faithful white gel pen & the ribbon is from my lovely little shop

Aunty's September Challenge

Ok I know this isn't a blog challenge but it is a challenge so I am blogging it lol. Anyway I have nothing better to write about today

The challenge was to create a ...
"Birthday Day for Female Member of the family, can be mother, aunt, sister etc....It can be of any colour must must have flowers on it."

This is what I made
I'm not at all happy with the greeting but I don't have a solution so I've had to let it go. Ho hum.

Magickdiva's Thursday Challenge

A simple challenge from magickdivas blog

The Challenge this week is to produce a card with string on it.

A simple card. It opens out like a pyramid. Hope you like it

Slide Mount Challenge (TMTC)

This is the first time I have taken up one of these challenges so please be gentle with me!

This is an atc for the 'Think Monday - Think Challenge' site. The challenge was "This week it’s all about slide mounts. You can use the original ones, glue paper on them and stamp on them. There are also paper ones available or those made of plastics, they are coloured and monochromic, so just go ahead. No matter if they are original, stamped or punched - show us your slide mounts."
Here is my entry.

It hasn't turned out quite as I planned. the idea was snow (in the slide) + accessories = a snowman.

Camper Van Domino

This domino has certainly been a test. I was asked if I could make a camper van domino and after cutting what seems like millions of bits of paper this is what I made.

If anyone asks if I can make a camper van domino again the answer is NO!!! .... well not at the moment anyway LOL.

Beach Hut Dominos

I really must get off the subject of dominos before you all think that is all I do!

These are a set of 3 dominos I made for Julie, she seems to like them so I am happy

The hardest bit was cutting out the life belts. I had SO many rejects. Not help by having a 2 year old with a facination for hammers helping me with the eyelet set!

Kim How Could You?

You will have to imagine the music to "our tune" is playing now.

Kim, Julie and I all joined Auntys right at the begining and have been up until the early hours chatting and giggling away. True friends made in cyberspace. We have had some ups and downs but we have always been there for one another. Always including each other in all we did. Never would we forget about one another.
One day Kim decided to leave the UK and set up a new life in sunny Spain but that was going to be OK as we would still be together in cyberspace. Kims visits to the forum (due to connection problems) have been sparse to say the the least so you would think her online time would be spend wisely and more importantly fairly, so ....

Kim, you have some explaining to do. WHY have you signed her blog and not mine ?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Rudolf the red nosed Reindeer ....

........ was stuck upon a dom-i-no
and if you ever saw him you would even say ho ho.

Oh I have been busy with Anitas gloop again. This time Rudolf as been 3D'd He has a tiny gem for a nose.

I have no idea what I am going to do with all these domino's but I am having fun anyway!

How Rude

Last year DH filled a plant pot with compost from the compost heap. Suddenly we had tomato plants growing. These have not been touched just watered and left to get on with it. We are now getting a jug full of cherry tomatoes every day. Yum my fave bit of the salad is the tomato.
Anyway my daughter was delighted to find a tomato with a willy, lol, even more delighted to find she had a "bum tomato" too.

A New Life

Aunty's first baby has been born. Sally gave birth at home with the help of DH Rich to a beautiful baby girl who they have named Violet. You can sneek a peek at the little mite by following the link to Aunties Forum. Be warned she has serious ahhhhhh value

Here is the card I made for them.

Christmas Lights Domino

I made 6 christmas dominos. This is what I have left lol It's not perfect but I am quite pleased with the results. I used Anitas stuff just on the lights so they are 3D I need a bit of practice getting the gloss to the edge of the stamping so I may end up with a full set of christmas lights dominoes.

Cat Domino

Another domino I have altered this time I used Stazon. ARGH! it really does stay on. My son helped me make this discovery. As I went in to the kitchen to find him wearing his cheekiest smile & holding my stamp in one hand the Stazon lid in another happily stamping my domino's and side. SO helpful my son lol.

This time I coloured it with chalks and made an animal domino from a normal domino. It is now winging it's way to an Aunties member...but which one??????

Wee or Pooh

All meals in my house are eaten at the table except that is for breakfast. DH eats his on the go and I rarely have any and if I do that would be on the go too. The kids are allowed to eat theirs in front of the telly. The house is to busy to be any other way. This morning while eating their breakfast a row erupted over a Barbie advert. Have you seen there is a barbie that has a cat or dog that wee's or pooh's!!! Well my son (2) announces "eugh pooh". My daughter (5) shouted back it's not pooh it's wee. (That makes all the difference)
"pooh"
"wee"
"pooh"
"wee"
They end up nose to nose "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" "Poooooooooooooooooooh!"
Arrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhh
So glad the neighbours are on holiday LOL

Altered Dominos

I have been introduce to the world of altered domino's and I love it. Once upon time I didn't 'get it' (you will soon learn as I ramble on I don't 'get' lots of things lol) but I was convinced it was a good idea over on Aunty's and now I find myself thinking about domino's more than I really should. I have lots of ideas running around my head and not enough time to put them into practice.

The challenge was set to alter 3 domino's and this is what I came up with ...

I stamped the butterfly image a Cherry Pie Stamp onto tissue paper coloured it with twinkling h2o's. Actually that's not true I used the cheap imitation ones from the works. I have never tried the real ones, I am probably missing out on something but as they say ignorance is bliss!
hmmm where was I? domino's .... I attached the tissue with spray adhesive then glossed them with Anita's sticky gloppy glossy stuff.
These are destined for Jan so I hope she doesn't see this before they reach her lol

A Beaded Bracelet

This is something totally different for me. I love beads and after joining a beading forum I felt inspied so armed with headpins, eyepins, a draw of pink beads, a draw of green beads and a bit of chain I started to create. This is what evolved. I feel quite proud of the dangys made fron scratch. I know my loops & wraps need some work but I am happy to practice.

Why am I blogging?

Why am I sitting here doing this? I am jumping on the band waggon.
That's it no more no less. Everyone seems to have a blog and I think I may be missing something.
I did the same with myspace. Everyone seemed to be myspaceing so I did it too. It's still there but to be honest I never did 'get it' I think I must be getting old.

I think I get blogging a bit more. I can talk to myself quite happily It doesn't matter who is (or more likely who isn't) listening.
At this point I have no idea what my blog will be about but then this could go on for years and no one will still have a clue what I am going on about lol.
Suppose I should tell you who I am. I'm Storm. I'm a crafter. I'm a mum. I spend far to much time on forums. Some I lurk at. Some I post occasionally. Some ... no 1 ... I post on all day everyday. There is more to me than that but I can't tell you everything on my first post. These are the things I am most likely to chat about so that will do for now.
Soon I will get some pics of my crafty wares to show you. If you would sign my guest book I would make me feel loved. If you would leave a comment I won't feel so lonely.
